This paper covers design leadership and design management. Topics include the development of and management of creative and design projects, as well as working with clients and other stakeholders. This paper is intended for those aiming for a future senior position in a design studio, those managing freelance teams, and those developing entrepreneurial creative projects.

A Moodle page is available for all DSIGN551 students at http://elearn.waikato.ac.nz/. On this page students will be able to access copies of course handouts and materials including assessment material, supporting pdf's, additional resources and an overview of what will be covered each week. Students are expected to check this site frequently for updates and to participate in discussions and forums provided through the Moodle page.

This paper will also be supported by a Panopto instance at https://waikato.au.panopto.com/.

Should the need arise Zoom may be incorporated to support distance learning.

This paper expects a commitment of 150 hours over the whole trimester. There is one lecture hour and a total of six studio hours (excluding the lunch break). The remainder of the time per week is spent out of class communicating with stakeholders and project planning.
